OAG

NetServices Project Management team work with OAG to implement a more
resilient service

The Challenge

When OAG (Online Airline Guide) became a NetServices customer it became apparent that we would be able to offer them a more comprehensive solution. In addition to the Ethernet providing increased bandwidth, our solution also had a lower monthly fee.

OAG compete in a market where maintaining the most comprehensive and up-to-date information is crucial to business success. They are the world's leading neutral source of flight information.

OAG publish flight details and timetables online from web servers hosted at their own data centre. This information is accessed in real time by travel arrangers and freight operators in multiple languages via multi-media (internet, SMS, PDA, digital and print). Every 10 seconds a piece of flight information is updated on one of over 28 million departures per year. Their business is dependent on the speed of response and the reliability of access to the information that their subscribers experience.

The Solution

The solution consisted of 10mb internet bandwidth, scalable beyond 34mb and provided via Ethernet access technology.

NetServices approach to the project was to deliver not only what is needed today, but to be able to scale for any future requirements.

The installation was a large and complex one however through the continuous communication and excellent project management the project was delivered to the scheduled delivery dates.

The Benefits

In order to finance the new solution, NetServices offered OAG the option to amortise set-up fees. The annual rental of the new solution still came in at below the current rental; an increase of more than double the bandwidth for a reduced monthly rental - further testimony to the value of NetServices supplier agreements.

NetServices flexibility was also a key factor in the deal. NetServices engineering team were able to meet OAG's out of hours work request and complete the install with minimum downtime, none of which was during working hours which was essential due to the nature of OAG's business.

System integration is the key driver for system integrators. Systems integrators that have a meshed network capability provide a consultative skill and managed service. NetServices have BT Martlesham labs confirming that their QoS IPStream (QoS over IPStream) works as sold. As part of their DSL products NetServices also provide QoS ADSL, QoS DSL (QoS over DSL), QoS DataStream (QoS over DataStream) that are all QoS over broadband solutions that deliver MPLS broadband services. These in turn build into Managed MPLS VPN, enabling a Converged MPLS VPN meshed network. NetServices is an IPCarrier (SIP Carrier) and therefore delivers managed SIP trunks as part of a SIP trunk network that supports managed hosted IPT. As a market leading Systems Integrator NetServices has recently integrated and launched their managed video network solution that includes Video over mobile using mobile broadband technology allowing complete Converged video networks. Converged broadband installations for video services use QoS DSL and QoS ADSL technology that are future proofed as 21CN users will work in a meshed solution in a managed video network. Managed Mobile Networks that deliver mobile leased lines can now from part of managed integrated mobile WAN solutions. Managed mobile data services are available in providing synchronous mobility data services and are instantly available for mobile disaster recovery (DR). In the simplest form managed mobile networks that deliver mobile leased lines are a replacement to a fixed line installation if the installations are temporary, mobile or instantly needed.
